NFL Hall of Fame Coach Don Shula will make an appearance Tuesday at Central Florida’s first Shula Burger.
The gourmet burger concept, which opened in late October in the Rolling Oaks Plaza on 8124 W. Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway in Kissimmee, is the fifth location statewide and the second independently owned Shula Burger franchise.
GF 13 Burger managing director Kevin Gowen Sr. — CEO of Celebration-basedAmeriFactors Financial Group LLC — was signed on as the Central Florida area director for Shula Burger.
“We knew Kevin was the right man for the job based on decades of experience building successful businesses,” said Dave Shula, Coach Shula’s son and Shula Burger president. “His enthusiasm and passion for Shula Burger and the Shula brand really stood out as well, making him a perfect fit for the Shula’s family. We’re thrilled to have him on board and believe he will do a wonderful job growing the Shula Burger concept in the greater Orlando area.”
In addition to the Kissimmee location, Gowen inked an agreement to open five more restaurants in the next few years and already is in talks for a second location near downtown Orlando, as previously reported by Orlando Business Journal.
The restaurant opening not only offers more dining options for Kissimmee, but the expansion of more Shula Burgers locations will create both temporary and permanent jobs as well as construction opportunities.
The grand opening event will not only give Central Florida a chance to meet the legendary Miami Dolphins coach, but the first 10 customers for lunch on Nov. 13 will win one free burger a week for a year.
“We want to make a statement as we enter the Orlando area, and what better way to do so than offering up a chance to win delicious free food and a chance to interact with Coach Shula and other local celebrities,” said Dave Shula.
